Facing death, dying and bereavement

  • Although death is one thing that is certain, it is often difficult to talk about in our society which can leave us feeling very isolated when facing our own or others mortality.
  • This series of classes with guided meditations will provide an opportunity to face our own and others mortality with courage, wisdom and peace and to use the knowledge of our own mortality as a positive force in our lives rather than something to be ignored or denied. More

Wednesday evenings 6.00-9.30pm with half hour break midway
@ Pure Land Buddhist Centre with Kelsang Chonyi

  • The Foundation Programme provides a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism and is a wonderful way to deepen your knowledge and practical experience of Buddhism.
  • We are studying and meditating on Geshe Kelsang's complete presentation of the path to enlightenment, "Joyful Path of Good Fortune". The text offers step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness and also give us great ability to benefit others.
  • Download full details and dates. Please contact us if you are interested in joining.
  • Be inspired Read a transcript of a talk given by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso on the benefits of this study programme

foundation programme studying 'how to understand the mind' ~ continuing from 25 january 2015

Sundays 9.00am - 1.30pm with half hour break midway
@ Pure Land Buddhist Centre with Kelsang Chonyi

  • On our weekend Foundation Programme we are studying "How to Understand the Mind" by Geshe Kelsang. This text gives an extraordinarily clear explanation of the nature and power of the mind
  • Through gaining understanding and control of our own mind we can clearly know how everything is created by mind. We can create a lasting inner peace by recognising and abandoning states of mind that harm us and by actively cultivating beneficial minds based on wisdom.
  • Either of our Foundation Programmes are open to those who have already been coming along to our drop-in classes for a while and hence have a good background understanding. The Foundation Programme has a commitment to attend every session for the section of study you sign up for but you can arrange to try out a couple of sessions before deciding if you would like to join.
